Bridging the Gap

EditorialDue to the flow on effects of the restructure of the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference, the Australian Catholic Council for Lay Pastoral Ministry is yet to meet. This is issue of Lay Pastoral Ministry News simply bridges the gap until the members of the Council are officially commissioned and take up their roles.

On the Plenary Council Journey

On the Plenary Council JourneyThere have been over 22,000 submissions from individuals and groups who have gathered for the initial phase of the Plenary 2020, participating in listening and dialogue sessions.  This phase will continue until early March when the data will be carefully analysed and from this analysis the major themes for the Council will emerge.

Milestone

MilestoneIn November 2011, the Australian Catholic Council for Lay Pastoral Ministry (ACCLPM) met for the first time. This was a new advisory Council for the Bishops Commission for Church Ministry. In establishing the council, the bishops recognised the unique contribution of lay ministers working alongside priests and deacons building up the Body of Christ.

Noticed in Rome

Noticed in RomeIt is with great joy that I can confirm that Faithful Stewards of God’s Grace, the first national resource for lay pastoral ministry, was launched by the President of the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference, Archbishop Mark Coleridge at Proclaim 2018 in Brisbane.

I’m thrilled that such a well-researched, theologically grounded and practical document is now available to provide a basis for collaboration in ministry across Australia.
