About ANDMYC
The Australian Network of Diocesan Youth Ministry Co-ordinators (ANDYMC) is a network of member dioceses that exists to foster the development of youth ministry in the dioceses and nationally in the Catholic Church in Australia.
ANDYMC is an independent network that exists with the blessing of the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference and regularly communicates with the Bishops Commission for Pastoral life.

Background
The Australian Network of Diocesan Youth Ministry Coordinators (ANDYMC) was established in 1998, evolving from the previous National Diocesan Youth Coordinators Network. From this time ANDYMC has endeavoured to gather Diocesan Youth Ministry Coordinators to discuss matters of mutual interest and concern, to share ideas and resources and to advocate for national infrastructure where appropriate.
The primary role of ANDYMC is to provided support and opportunities for networking between Diocesan Youth Ministry Coordinators from around Australia. Since its first meeting in 1999, the network has witnessed a high turnover of Diocesan Youth Ministry Coordinators and member diocese representatives. Despite this trend ANDYMC has maintained a membership of the majority of funded Youth Ministry Offices in Australia attesting the need for the network.
ANDYMC has discussed, established and contributed to many national and local initiatives including the Moving On project, a national gathering of young people, Competencies Standards for Youth Ministry Coordinators, a discussion paper re National World Youth Day Organisational Relationships, a National Song Competition and many more. No doubt the most successful initiative it has been a part of has been the advocacy for and development of a National Vision for Catholic Youth Ministry. The network will continue to contribute on relevant national projects through its long-standing relationship with the Australian Catholic Bishop Conference and its designated bodies (eg Bishops Commission for Pastoral Life)
ANDYMC has also established key relationships within Oceania and around the world for the support of Diocesan Youth Ministry Coordinators. Of particular importance is the ongoing relationship between ANDYMC and the New Zealand National Council for Youth Catholics in which member participate in a membership meeting exchange program.
ANDYMC’s members also played a major consultation and communication role in World Youth Day 2008 with the majority of its members being invited to regular WYD08 ‘Diocesan and Youth Ministries’ ad hoc advisory group meeting.
In to the future ANDYMC will continue to advocate for the establishment and support of youth ministry at local, Diocesan and National levels. It will seek to do this by continuing to meet annually, promoting effective communication between youth ministry offices, to act as an advocate for the place of young people and youth ministry within Church structures and to foster a co-operative approach amongst youth ministry offices.
