Sadly, even with good medical help some couples will not be blessed with children of their own. The Church acknowledges the suffering that this can cause, but also affirms such couples and calls them on in their married vocation, inviting them to consider other important services to the life of the human person….. [c.fDonumVitae II, B, 8]

The request which arises from the human heart in the supreme confrontation with suffering and death, especially when faced with the temptation to give up in utter desperation, is above all a request for companionship, sympathy and support in the time of trial. It is a plea for help to keep on hoping when all human hopes fail. (The Gospel of Life, pp67)

In firmly rejecting ‘pro-choice’ it is necessary to become courageously ‘pro-woman’ promoting a choice that is truly in favour of women…..The only honest stance, in these cases, is that of radical solidarity with the woman. It is not right to leave her alone. (John Paul II, Crossing the Threshold of Hope, pp206-207)
